Gaming Anniversaries June 6- Legend of Zelda Links Awakening
Released June 6, 1993- The Legend Of Zelda Links Awakening
The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening popped onto store shelves in Japan on this day in 1993 for the Gameboy.
The game is notable for including many different cameos of Nintendo characters. Including Yoshi, Kirby and even the Chain Chomp, whom link can take for a walk. The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening also doesn’t include Princess Zelda or even the Triforce. Because of this, the developers began to consider it a parody game in the series. Despite this, Link’s Awakening was hugely successful. Selling about 3.83 Million Units after its release. A re-release known as Links Awakening DX was later released for the Gameboy Color and went on to sell another 2.2 million units.
The game also enjoyed a strange marketing campaign, that included some great 90’s rap.
