Hatris came to the Japanese market on this day in 1990. For the Nintendo Famicom.
Another falling block type puzzle game developed by the same guy who made Tetris, Alexey Pajitnov. The game is not as famous but plays on the same concepts as Tetris did. In this one, the setting is a hat factory. Falling hats will come from above and players must align 5 of the same of them to clear lines. The hats can be Cowboy hats, Top-Hats, Party Hats and even crowns. The game has a different score system, each time a line is cleared, the player will earn money instead of points. Once enough money is earned, the game begins the next level, introducing new hats at a higher difficulty.
Hatris is definitely a unique game. Perhaps if you haven’t tried it and you happen to be a Tetris fan, give it a shot today!
Living in St.John's Newfoundland, Dave has been a gamer all of his life. Starting with the NES and working both backwards and forwards, he intends to play the new along with the old!
