Gaming Anniversaries July 14- Bad Dudes

Released July 14, 1989- Bad Dudes

Bad Dudes beat up the Japanese market on this day in 1989. For the Nintendo Famicom

Known in Japan as DragonNinja, Bad Dudes is a 6 level action game. Taking place in Washington D.C., the President of the United States has been kidnapped by the evil DragonNinja. The Secret Service has tasked two street brawlers to named Blade and Striker to save him! There is just one question. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue him?

Gameplay is similar to games like Rush ‘N’ Attack and Kung Fu Master on the NES. Enemies will appear from the left or right and even up above. You scroll across the screen taking them out one by one, ultimately facing a “Super Warrior Boss”. Such as Karnov who comes from the game of the same name.

Bad Dudes was initially one of the most popular Arcade games. Named number 2 in 1988. Therefore it was no surprise it was so successful on the NES and other platforms. The game is still extremely popular today. Now mostly having become an internet meme. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?

Today’s retro-ad doesn’t only feature Bad Dudes, it also has RoboCop! Enjoy!
