Gaming Anniversaries October 29- Super Thunder Blade

Super Thunder blade

Released October 29, 1988- Super Thunder Blade

Super Thunder Blade flew into the Japanese market on this day in 1988. For the Sega Mega Drive.

Releasing as a launch title for the Japanese version of the Sega Genesis, the Sega Mega Drive. Super Thunder Blade hit with a large bang in the region.

In Super Thunder Blade, players will control a helicopter blasting away at the various enemies and obstacles that stand in your way. The game takes place in a similar perspective to Racing games such as OutRun and Hang On. What makes Super Thunder Blade a little different is the shooting mechanics and the ability to fly the copter up and down on the screen.

The levels are on rails, meaning there is no stopping. The game itself decides what comes next in a pattern. The patterns are the key to mastering the game and finally beating all bosses.

It takes a good deal of skill to finish it, however. Many folks get rather frustrated with the Genesis controller and would prefer to play the game using a joystick. For that true arcade fell.
