Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts

Released October 4, 1991- Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts

Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts spooked into the Japanese market on this day in 91’. For the Super Famicom!

Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is the notoriously hard game that nightmares are made of. It’s the sequel to another very difficult game on the NES Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, developed by Capcom.

The game stars our hero Arthur from the first game as he is about to finally marry Princess PrinPrin at last! The couple is embracing each other as crowds are gathered awaiting their nuptials. However, out of nowhere, a demon once again comes to snatch the princess away from him! This time, Arthur is ready. Are you?

Players will control Arthur as he traverses graveyards filled with monsters and demons to rescue his princess. At first, Arthur is equipped with his suit of armor. After each hit, Arthur will lose his armor and run naked through the monsters. Just like the first game. Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is notoriously difficult in that regard. Players will need to practice their skills and remember enemy locations to even stand a chance at beating this game. Still, it is highly regarded as one of the best games the Super Nintendo has to offer!

The game was critically well received. However, some critics didn’t appreciate how difficult the game was to begin. That said, they equated difficulty to how long it will take to beat, making it an excellent value for your money. The game ended up selling over 1 million units worldwide. making it Capcoms 75’th best selling game of all time.
