Katamari Forever

In the third person action puzzle game Katamari Forever a terrible event has caused all of the stars to disappear. The King of All Cosmos is in a coma. The Prince is left to re-create the missing celestial bodies, save his father and restore order. The levels are in black and white and it’s your job to roll junk up to bring colour back to the stages.

This family friendly game contains 34 stages in total, while most of them are taken from previous titles in the series 3 of them are new. Half of the stages take place in the mind of King of All Cosmos who has suffered amnesia. The other half take place in the present where RoboKing (the robotic version of the King of All Cosmos) goes and destroys all the stars in the sky while on a rampage. How dare he!

This nifty family friendly game contains local cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes. So you can get along and work together or kick each other’s butts!

Rayman Legends is the fifth main title in the Rayman series. It has been praised by critics for its visuals, level design, controls, soundtrack, content and gameplay.

In this game Rayman, Globox and the Teensies have been sleeping for 100 years. They have been awakened by their friend Murfy who tells them that 10 princesses and the Teensies have been captured by the nightmares the Dark Teensies. The five Dark Teensies are the survivied parts of the Magician after the explosion in Rayman Origins. You need to save those in need! You’ll need to save a total of 400 Teensies in order to unlock the last world, Living Dead Party.

This family friendly game is both single player and cooperative for up to four players who will share the same screen. This game does not have online play so you can only play with those who are present in your living room.

A Boy and His Blob

First available for NES, A Boy and His Blob was re-imagined into this platform puzzle game where the planet Blobolonia is threatened by an evil emperor forcing the blob to flee to Earth is search of help. On Earth Blob finds Boy and they team up to dethrone the evil emperor by completing an Earth Quest before moving on to Blobolonia. Will the Emperor’s minions be able to stop them on their adventures?

You move through the family friendly game by solving puzzles and defeating enemies. Boy will find a variety of jellybeans to feed Blob who will turn into useful items. The Boy is able to hug and scold blob and call him to his side. Boy will die if he touches an enemy, falls from a height or touches a dangerous object. The game has four worlds, each with ten levels and a boss battle. If you find three chests hidden in each main level you will unlock additional challenge levels!

This game is a single player family friendly game but can still be enjoyed by everyone!

Mini Ninjas

Mini Ninjas is a single player, third person action-adventure game. Hiro has been sent on a quest to restore harmony to a chaotic world by his Ninja Master. Before him other students were sent to never return. Hiro will battle an evil, magical army of Samurai using Kuji magic and use special skills of mini Ninja friends as he rescues them.

There are six playable Mini Ninja characters with their own abilities, weapons and skills. The hostile samurai in the game are animals who have been placed under an evil spell and once that spell breaks they return to animals. Hiro is able to possess animals for a short amount of time to use their abilities. Will Hiro be able to defeat the warlord and his dark Kuji?

Here’s a review by IGN. This family friendly game may be a good introduction to ninja culture for your young ones!

Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved is an interactive motion-controlled journey through music and magic. It uses Kinect motion control technology to explore music. The sorcerer Yen Sid from Sorcerer’s Apprentice takes the player to create life in empty levels by moving in rhythm with licensed popular and classical music. Disney Fantasia is designed to bring out the players creative control. Players collect magical energy to unlock items to be brought into the levels. You can get expansion packs for more songs if this game is your family’s jam!

Ori and the Blind Forest

Ori and the Blind Forest is a single player adventure game. As a new born Ori fell form a tree during a storm and was adopted by Naru. Naru dies after a cataclysmic event leaving Ori orphaned. Ori ends up meeting Sein who guides Ori and attacks enemies. In order to restore the forest Sein guides Ori to recover the light through three main elements, waters, winds and warmths.

Throughout your time exploring in this family friendly game you will be able to pick up new abilities. You will also need to back track with new abilities in order to reach previously “unreachable secrets“. Ori and the Blind Forest is a very intriguing family friendly game. Enjoy this coming of age story as Ori discovers the role he has within his world!
