Six Family Friendly Games to Check Out!

An issue I have with xBox and PlayStation is how family friendly games seem to be a bit more difficult to find. I have seen some young kids get games like Fallout because their family does not realise what games are out there that are more appropriate for their age group. Check out these six family friendly games!

Viva Piñata

8.0/10 (User Score) on Metacritic

Available on: xBox 360, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo DS

Viva Piñata is a family friendly world filled with living piñata animals. They thrive in a growing garden where they interact with one another. The player’s job is to take care of these candy filled animals and protect them from their natural enemies. Lure new creatures into your garden and make them want to romance by filling their needs! You can buy different species in shops while others live at large. Some species are only able to be obtained by following a specific set of instructions! This game is so packed that you can play as long as you want and never finish it.

Octodad; Dadliest Catch

7.8/10   on Metacritic (User Score)

Available on: PlayStation 4, Android, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Linux, Mac OS, tvOS

The sequel to Octodad, Octodad Dadliest Catch, is a third person puzzle action game that involves an octopus who has to keep his octopus identity a secret from society. He’s gotten himself into a bind in this game! His wife’s mistrust in him is growing and his trip to the aquarium is an absolute disaster.

Octodad has to complete typical chores of a father but the fact he is an octopus in disguise makes things much more complicated. Chef Fujimoto is aware of Octodad’s secret and wants to expose Octodad so he can cook him. The game includes the back story to Octodad. How did he get his disguise and make a family? Seriously, how? He’s an octopus.

This family friendly game sounds very interesting!

6.5/10 on Metacritic (User Score)

Available on:  Play Station 4

A doctor creates a beast who helps humanity. The beast takes out a goblin army stopping a billionaire from destroying the world with other beasts like himself. This review says that it “has everything … cartoon visuals, a goofy script … a drop of drama to keep the plot moving.” It does not say anything that favourable about the plot but it does say it is fun to watch Knack grow and smash things, and let’s face it, sometimes that’s all a kid wants so why not give it to them in a family friendly way?

Doki Doki Universe

6.3/10 on Metacritic (User Score)

Available on: PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

Doki-Doki Universe is a family friendly interactive game that explores the concept of humanity. Players can travel to different planets and asteroids which all have different themes. QT3 is the robot you play as. He was abandoned by his owners and waited for decades for their return. Alien Jeff finds him and convinces him to explore the neighbourhood. The game play involves completing quests for characters on the planets. QT3 can help those around them or scare them by giving them what they don’t want. Intriguing.

Ratchet and Clank All 4 One

6.4/10 on Metacritic (User Score)

Available on: PS3

The game starts with Ratchet and Clank wishing for a more chill life. Things end up taking a turn when Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Dr. Nefarious are faced with a new threat in an alien world thanks to Dr. Nefarious’ latest evil plan. They must all work together in order to find a way to escape. This game is a four player co-op game for PS3 which can be played with others online or offline. This is perfect for families who want to play together! Certain puzzles demand that players cooperate and certain enemies demand the same. This makes this game best when played with others.
