Gaming Anniversaries November 7, 2018- Shenmue

Released November 7, 2000- Shenmue
Shenmue punched into the North American market on this day in 2000. For the Sega Dreamcast!
Gameplay in battles is similar to gameplay found in the Virtua Fighter series. Set in a 3D environment and can admittedly get a little hectic from time to time. Moreover, the game seems to mostly be centered around talking to NPC’s around town and beyond to help you on your way. This can make the beginning feel a little sluggish, however, keeping with it is certainly well rewarding.
Sadly, despite the success of the game, it did not recoup the exorbitant cost of development of over $70 million. Making it the most expensive game ever produced in this era. Meaning after Shenmue 2, it would have been virtually unheard of to see another one made. Until 2015, when Sony announced a partnership with YS Net to produce Shenmue 3, which recently finally got a release date of August 27, 2019. Look forward to it then.
