Sega Forever Available right now. Not what we expected

It seems the app stores have proven me wrong. Sega Forever is not an app. Indeed, it is separate downloads.

Sega Forever is, in fact, available right now. Users can search their respective app stores to download individual games including Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star II, Kid Chameleon and Comix Zone. Each game download will include ads unless users pay the cost of $1.99 per app to remove them.

This is slightly disappointing news. I had expected a Netflix-style interface for each of them. Sadly, this is not the case. perhaps later they will include something of that regard.

As it stands right now, each app will cost $1.99 to play ad free with local save support. Right now, without paying the cost, users must be required to the internet connection in order to save their game.

Only time will tell what the future may hold for the Sega Forever service. Still, even with ads, the games play well and there’s really nothing lost, besides the app that will for now at least, be just a hope.
