+UPDATED+ Pokemon Go is barely out and fakes are already appearing!

Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go has only been out in certain regions for a few days…

And already the copycats are appearing. Evidence is provided by this screen shot I took just a  few moments ago of a game called “Go Catch Em All! – Hungry Monster.IO World Chasing Color Dots”.

Very interesting title that’s not totally inaccurate. This is Pokemon Go in its most blatant form. You would think the folks at Apple would look at this and say “Hmm this looks just like that really popular game we just put out in the store…” but nope. Here it is!

Below is a description of the app in its entirety:

[Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, and many other Pokemon have been discovered on planet Earth!

Now’s your chance to discover and capture the Pokemon all around you–so get your shoes on, step outside, and explore the world. You’ll join one of three teams and battle for the prestige and ownership of Gyms with your Pokemon at your side.

Pokemon are out there, and you need to find them. As you walk around a neighborhood, your smartphone will vibrate when there’s a Pokemon nearby. Take aim and throw a Poke Ball… You’ll have to stay alert, or it might get away!]

I haven’t checked if this app is available in the United States so maybe this is someone’s way of getting you Pokemon Go in Canada. Still kind of amazing that someone is blatantly ripping it off though.

UPDATE “Go Catch Em All! – Hungry Monster.IO World Chasing Color Dots”Not at all what it appeared.

“Go Catch Em All! – Hungry Monster.IO World Chasing Color Dots” is not at all like Pokemon Go. They did however steal all the screenshots and the description while giving you a random game filled with ad after ad after ad… Do. Not. Be. Fooled!

In the actual “Go Catch Em All! – Hungry Monster.IO World Chasing Color Dots” app you are served up multiple video ads while clicking on dots that resemble Pokemon in order to eat them. It’s not a good game, every time you die you’re served an additional video ad. What’s more, the tactic seems to be working! The app has an estimated daily revenue of  over $1600 according to Think Gaming HERE. This is too funny. Perhaps this happens all the time but, as for me, I don’t often follow mobile games in order to find out.
