Ghost in the Shell made its way to the Japanese market on this day in 97′. For the Sony PlayStation!

Based on the Manga of the same name. The Ghost in the Shell video game was adapted for the format in a near masterful way. It is based on the feature film of the same name. Although they do not share stories. Additionally, the voice actors in the English version are the same actors from the film. Something nearly unheard of in the video game medium.

The game follows the story of “The Rookie” A nameless character that is controlled by the player. Working for Public Security Section 9. You are sent to resolve a terrorist issue at the Megatech Body Corporation. and find the location of the Terrorists in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Rookie must complete missions including chases and ambush missions and then later, stop a nuclear reactor from overloading.

Ghost in the Shell received mostly decent scores across the board. Furthermore, it was featured on the cover of the first US “Official PlayStation Magazine”. Moreover, it is considered one of the best movie tie-in games ever.
