Metal gear Solid 4

Released June 12, 2008- Metal Gear Solid 4

The fourth entry in the Metal Gear Solid series released on this day in 2008. Via a simultaneous worldwide release.

Metal Gear Solid 4Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a stellar entry in the franchise. The game is set five years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2. Snake is now Old Snake as his nanomachines injected during the first game caused an accelerated again illness. In playing the game, players will notice that old Snake will behave differently, there is now a stress meter that can be reduced by smoking or getting into shade, as well as some effects that show Snakes age. Including back pain and groaning. Snake will now throw up when he’s too stressed or lose focus and become enraged while firing a gun. Another new tech introduced was the Octocamo technology. Allowing Snake to blend into his surroundings like a chameleon.

The Story

The world’s economy has relied on civil wars fought by the world’s Private Armies, who outnumber the government forces. Injected with nanomachines and connected to a network known as “Sons of the Patriots”, the PMC’s have great power, that Liquid intends to exploit to take over the world. This will be Snakes final mission, to finally assassinate his brother, Liquid Snake and save the world once again.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Accolades and Accomplishment

MGS4 dominated. Getting perfect scores of 10 from many outlets and received game of the year for 2008. The game, in my opinion, deserved it, as it offers plenty of replay value. Later, many users complained that the game was more like a movie as the cutscenes were extraordinarily long. Nonetheless, MGS4 made its cutscenes interactive and interesting. As players could control the MK II robot built by Otacon to explore around levels and pick up items while some cutscenes were playing. Moreover, cutscenes were often skippable. The game is also the first PlayStation 3 game to ever use “Dual Layer Blu-Ray Technology” allowing for the developers to utilize twice as much space as a traditional blu-ray.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was meant to be the last and final entry in the series. However, several more games were released due to fan demand. Including Peace Walker and the most recent Metal Gear Solid 5.
