Gaming Anniversaries April 20- Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light
Released April 20 1990- Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light
The first game in the popular Fire Emblem series was released on April 20 1990 in Japan. Entitled Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of light.
This role playing game features tactical turn based gameplay as well as 21 different classes of characters. Play as Marth and grow your army. In order to defeat the Shadow Dragon and the evil wizard Gharnef. Retaking the mage-state of Khadein.
ShadowDragon and the Blade of Light started the permanent death feature of the series. If a character falls in battle, they’re gone forever. Meaning many players whom become attached to certain characters would sometimes go back to a previous save in an effort to keep them. Fire Emblem is one of those games that could last an eternity played this way.
The series is still ongoing to this day. The most recent entry was on the 3DS and featured many game play staples to what we seen in 1990.
