Gaming Anniversaries November 12- Disney’s Aladdin

Aladdin

Released November 12, 1993- Disney’s Aladdin

Aladdin stole the hearts of the Japanese market on this day in 1993. For the Sega Genesis.

AladdinAladdin actually came out on both the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo. And for years, there has been an ongoing battle about which one is best.

I’ll settle the argument right now and say it’s the Genesis version. Brighter colors, smoother gameplay. Everything about it is better, but I digress.

The game has you playing the titular Aladdin as he makes his way through the rooftops of Agrabah, to the Sultans Castle and everywhere in between. Along the way, Guards will give chase and you’re equipped with Apples as well as a sword to slow them down. Additionally, animals and various other creatures will try to hinder Aladdins progress. Players will also have to collect gems, and Genie and Abu icons to trigger bonus rounds and collect big points.

Upon successfully completing all the levels leading up to it, Aladdin will finally face off against the Grand Vizier in Jafar’s palace.

Aladdin received very positive scores. On release in the Japanese market, Famitsu Magazine gave it a score of 35/40. No small feat. They praised the game’s animations which were developed by the Disney company themselves as well as its fluid gameplay.

So, knowing all of this and playing each version, let us know what you think of this one and which one was your favorite in the comments below. Remember, saying Super Nintendo means your wrong of course. Just kidding! Whatever you chose, we hope you had fun!
