Gaming Anniversaries November 4- Crash Bandicoot Warped

Released November 4, 1998- Crash Bandicoot Warped

Crash Bandicoot Warped spun into the North American market on this day in 98. For the Sony PlayStation!

Crash Bandicoot Warped is the third entry in the Crash franchise and is known elsewhere as such. The game takes place immediately after the second game and the gameplay is very similar as well.

In this one, the ruins of a space station have landed on Earth unleashing an evil force into the world. It merges with our good friend Aku Aku’s younger brother Uka Uka to create an even more powerful entity. Spewing crystals and cores across the planet. It’s up to crash and his friends to collect all of the crystals and stop them once and for all!

The gameplay is linear with very little exploration, however, you never know what might be lurking behind every turn. Additionally, besides the crystals players will find in the level, in order to finish this game you must also collect the 42 gems scattered throughout. This leads to a lot of replayability. As the game never really ends until you find everything.

To that end, Crash can spin jump and charge into boxes and enemies to uncover what lies inside. Moreover, this game includes a new player character. So those bored of Crash can switch it up a little bit. Furthermore, its a female character named Coco! A very inclusive game indeed.

Overall, Crash Bandicoot Warped is worthy of being tried and deserves a place on every Retro collector’s shelf.
