Pilotwings flew into the Japanese market on this day in 1990. For the Super Famicom!
Pilotwings engages the player in a series of tests. The ultimate goal is, of course, to earn your wings. Players will fly a series of aircrafts, participate in skydiving challenges and even hang gliding challenges.
In the first event, players will take control of a light plane, Flying it through a series of orbs in the sky, the second is similar with parachutes, the third controls a larger plane and the fourth being hang gliding. A certain score is required in each event to progress through the game.
The gameplay is fluid and feels great. It’s easy to play but really difficult to master. Especially in the later stages. But that’s not all, the soundtrack for the game is engaging even itself. Making for an overall fantastic experience.
Pilotwings is an iconic franchise for Nintendo platforms. It has its place in most collectors collections. To that end, Nintendo had versions on multiple systems. Such as the Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo 3DS.
