Following the same path in gameplay between Mario Kart 7 and 8. Additionally, the game also allows for customizable vehicles, unlocking new components by collecting coins. The game continued to be successful right up until the end of the Wii U’s days
Mario Kart 8 is credited with a huge boost in sales of the Wii U console and was one of the best selling games for the ill-fated console. However, it was missing some features gamers really wanted from the series, including a battle mode. Which was re-introduced with the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in April of 2017 for the Nintendo Switch.
