Gaming Anniversaries August 13- Gadget Twins

Gadget Twins

Released August 13, 1992- Gadget Twins.

Gadget Twins hit the North American market on this day in 1992. For the Sega Genesis.

Gadget TwinsGadget Twins is a unique game on the Sega Genesis system. Controlling one of two planes named Bop and Bump. yes, planes. They will deliberately crash into things to “bop” or “bump” them to destroy objects and enemies. Players will fly through the world on land and sea through six different levels.

Players will fly through the world on land and sea through six different levels. Planes in the sea, they say there are more of those than submarines in the sky. Anyway, Bop and Bump will traverse through the levels finding treasure chests, collecting coins and defeating enemies until they have enough coins to earn upgrades purchasable in stores in the game.

The game is an auto-scroller, meaning the screen never stops moving. However, it’s just slow enough to make the game feel well paced and just fast enough to not be so frustrating. Fans of quirky and strange games should definitely try out Gadget Twins on the Sega Genesis/ Megadrive in Europe.

Sadly, Gadget Twins did not earn enough respect or sales to warrant any further entries in the series. The game can be found online for around $5, meaning there is no excuse not to try it out!
