Donkey Konga 2 is a rhythm based Donkey Kong game. Special bongo drum controllers were designed for the purpose of controlling the game.

The game was developed by Namco. In fact, it was developed by the same team responsible for other rhythm games. Such as Taiko No Tatsujin. Known as Taiko: Drum master in the US for the PlayStation 2 system.

Donkey Konga originally published with shortened versions of Nintendo classic song material. As many as 33 songs were in the original game. Donkey Konga 2 features licensed music from mainstream Rock and Pop stars of the time. Such as Good Charlotte and Smash Mouth. Making it more popular to the mass market.

The Japanese version features songs from Japanese media and other video games. The series grew too large popularity, and a third sequel was released.

Finally, the series grew a fairly large fanbase, and a third sequel was released. However, the series was shelved shortly thereafter with the oncoming release of the Nintendo Wii.
