Castlevania II: Belmonts Revenge

Released on July 12, 1991- Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge

Castlevania II: Belmonts Revenge whipped the Japanese market on this day in 1991. For the Nintendo Gameboy.

Castlevania II: Belmonts RevengeThe game takes place 15 years after the original GameBoy Castlevania adventure. Christopher Belmont’s son, Solieyu is enjoying his coming of age feast. Dracula appears turns him into a demon and steals away with him. Furthermore, four terrifying castles have appeared out of nowhere! It’s up to Christopher Belmont to travel to each one, defeat the demons and kill Dracula, and of course, save his son!

Castlevania II: Belmonts Revenge adds a few upgrades to the original. Such as a new weapon system as Holy Water and Axes can be held. The four levels also take place in castles themed after elements. Completable in any order.  Additionally, this game features a password save system.

The game is generally well received, having lost some points because it is so short. Still, this entry is widely considered the best on the platform.

The game did so well, it lead to several more entries in the series for the handheld. Including the parody Kid Dracula and Castlevania Legends.
