Gaming Anniversaries October 8- Bump ‘N Jump

Bump 'N Jump

Released October 8, 1986- Bump ‘N Jump

Bump ‘N Jump slammed into the Japanese market on this day in 1986. For the Nintendo Famicom!

Bump 'N JumpBump ‘N Jump is a simplistic arcade-style racing game. However, there is a unique little twist.

In the game, players will have to drive from one end of a level to the other, the whole time deliberately bumping and knocking rival vehicles into obstacles. Additionally, players will try to jump their car over bodies of water and other large gaps in order to reach the goal, so make sure you yourself don’t get bumped, so you can jump!

The game is considered especially difficult, as it is played with an overhead view. Meaning players cannot see large obstacles or jumps until the very last second. Further, rival vehicles are both cars and trucks. Cars can simply be bumped into obstacles, but doing this to a truck will not end well. Trucks can only be jumped onto. Moreover, the trucks can occasionally drop obstacles to stop you in your tracks.

Bump ‘N Jump was previously considered to be amongst the top 100 games of all time. In 1996. Due to its variety of vehicles, levels and the tight controls and unique mechanics. The game was ported to multiple systems, from the arcade, the NES and even the Commodore 64.

Overall, Bump ‘N Jump is definitely still worth a playthrough today. Have you given it a shot? let us know in the comments down below!
