Gaming Anniversaries January 18- Bomberman: Panic Bomber

Bomberman: Panic Bomber

Released January 18, 1995- Bomberman: Panic Bomber

Bomberman: Panic Bomber shook the Japanese market on this day in 1995. For the Arcades!

Bomberman: Panic BomberBomberman: Panic Bomber is unlike any other Bomberman game you’ve played before. In fact, it’s more akin to Tetris or Puyo Puyo.

The game is a vertical match 3 puzzle game. Colored Bomberman heads will drop from the top of the screen and must be arranged in like colors in groups of at least three to clear a line. Lines can be arranged either vertically or horizontally be rotating them.

There is a “World Map” that Bomberman will automatically advance through after clearing each stage, each one is represented by a villain in the Bomberman series. Additionally, you can choose to play with up to five players in the Arcade version of the game for true head to head gameplay. Moreover, there is another mode known as Time-Attack, where the goal is to score the most points and clear the most lines before time runs out.

Bomberman: Panic Bomber didn’t see an Arcade release on the English side of things. However, it definitely doesn’t need to be translated to enjoy. Being that it’s such a simple puzzle game. That said, the game received multiple releases over many different systems. Many of which are in English, such as Panic Bomber on the Virtual Boy, which is essentially the same game.
